Hi there, now is 2339 hrs on a sat night and i just came back hme from esplanade. My good friend was telling me to blog bout my exp just nw in the theatre so i shall spill in the beans especially for you hor mianlin...tomolo if u c i gt dark eye rings its bcus of yr sake..haha
well, the show was 2 and 1/2 hrs including the intermission and i would rate the performance overall as nt bad but not perfect at all. the props used for background and all the costumes were fascinating. however, frm my seat, i could view the cast but nt see their faces clearly and nt surprisely, the ushers were "selling" binoculars for us audience to purchase in order to get a closer zoom of the cast faces. but of course i did not purchase those silly binoculars cus it would ruin my make up. neway, i helped my mum applied make up and she looked gorgeous instantly that i kept staring at her frm hme, in the cab and to the theatre. Don't think otherwise. I love my mum very much soo must look at her more often than usual.
There were many scenes in the play with singing 3/4 of the time, 1/4 talking and humour. If u ask me who i like best in the play, it would be "Christine", the leading lady course she has a damn bloody good angelic inhuman voice that i can't possibly imagine anyone could hav. She is soo talented and she got to kiss 2 guys during the play. The kissing was weird for one cus it was the last part where the phantom told christine to choose between him and Raoul ( the other leading man who is Christine's true love ), then christine suddenly kissed the phantom then hugged him, then kissed him again and hugged him, like a cycle liddat. very old fashioned kissing. haha.
But i almost shed tears during the last part course when the phantom let Christine and Raoul go ( they were being held captive ), he sort of sang in a sad melody " Christine, I love you...i really love you ", upon missing her absence from his sight. its like i really "pity" the phantom for being born deformed and that he groomed Christine into a SOPRANO lead singer in their play but what he gt in return was nt to his expectation. Sometines i wonder if the phantom wasn't "ugly" at all, will Christine even consider him? Mayb.
Anyway, the last part was the phantom sat on his fav chair and covered himself with a big black cloth then a few minutes later, there was a small kid curiously entering his domain and then lifted up the cloth but there was no one. HE DISAPPEARED!!!
The beginning of the play was an auction being held, the 1st item was a map or portrait then the 2nd was 3 human skulls and other thing N the 3rd item is the one i love the most, a musical box with a monkey figure on top, i don't care about the looks but what is being played and trust me, the music was mesmerizing.
The middle parts are as usual singing, dancing by ballerinas dressed in their leotards and skirts and how Christine, the undiscovered talent was DISCOVERED then she became popular and then she and RAOUL fell in love then the Phantom brought her into his dungeon and revealed his true face to her then oh ya, one person died, the phantom hung him frm above and the dead person droppped frm above.
there was a full audience i guess comprising of lots of ANG MOH LANGS ...haha.... my mum bought the BOOK of phanton, inside say bout the cast, a few pictures etc..will show u, mianlin, on sunday specially for u..but cannnot borrow de wor...its not for loan, haha
btw, out of all the songs performed, one of my very fav is Masquerade whereby its a group singing.
